I am all for Barack Obama's proposal to make government spending more transparent. However, I doubt that will actually happen, given that it seems to be business as usual this week as the 111th Congress convenes (reinstating seniority rules for committee chairman over competency, weakening protections for the minority party). Therefore, I still subscribe to the theory of Ronald Reagan that the ten scariest words in the English language are "I'm from the federal government and I'm here to help."
